7th March 2pm Skegness Stadium
The first Skegness Stadium meeting of the new BriSCA F2 Stock Car
season, looks set to feature a cosmopolitan entry of drivers,
ranging from experienced racers to newcomers; from local drivers to
long distance travellers; and from a sprinkling of current day
Champions chasing the top honours to white tops going in search of
some confidence boosting places in the results.
Leading the entry will be reigning World Champion 968 Micky Brennan
and reigning National Points Champion 38 David Polley. Brennan's
appearance will be his second at Skegness since winning the World
title. Polley enjoyed an exceptional season at Skegness in 2009,
with nine feature final wins, and he comfortably won the Track
Championship by just under 200 points.
The gold and silver tops will face plenty of strong opposition
amongst the star graders, with 101 Kelvyn Whalley, reigning World of
Shale Champion 606 Andrew Palmer, and local star 871 Mark Simpson
all due in action. They will be joined by 154 Steve Green Jnr,
former European Champion 744 Tom Smart and 798 Mark Sargent - all of
whom were final winners at Skegness last season.
Further local interest includes 284 Jody Griffin from Lincoln, 597
Barry Clow and 630 Justin Parker from Spalding and 557 Andrew Spence
from nearby Bratoft. During the 2009 season, Spence topped the
appearances chart at Skegness, missing just four meetings out of the
25 staged at the track.
Scottish interest is impressive, with 631 Ron Ferguson, 637 Ally
Noble, 641 Dennis Middler, 854 Robbie Dawson and 874 Fraser McLellan
all set to journey south.
More long distance travelling is planned by a sprinkling of drivers
from the north east, with 823 Sam Wagner, 301 Charlie Whitefield,
333 Barry Turner and 908 Mike Reid all due on the grid; along with
westcountry based 24 Jon Palmer, who enjoyed a trio of top five
finishes when he made his Skegness track debut last October.
1300 Saloon Stock Cars
Dear Driver
Thank you for your
interest in the recent debate, the one car rule.
We need to clarify
some points.
(a).This formula is
an affordable nudge & spin stock car formula. We feel that the
majority of drivers want it to stay this way.
The idea of having
purpose built hybrid tarmac specials is not within the spirit of
this formula. (2L Saloons have recently had to go through some rule
changes to bring their formula back to where it was). Why go down
that road only to be hauled back in 2-3 years.
(b). It has been
said that because of the volume of meetings for 2010, drivers need
two cars so there is always one available.
This comment
surprises us, as cars were built or started being built and
purchased before the fixtures were even published.
(c). We have been
asked why the one car rule has come in this close to the season.
It only came to
our attention within the last three weeks, no mention was made at
the drivers meeting. If we had been asked if this was allowed before
the cars were built, we would have said no.
(d).The last five
National points winners and multichampion and multisurface winners
over the last five years have only used one car.
So with this
in mind we will move back towards one car per driver on any surface,
during 2010 we will constantly keep a close eye on the formula to
make sure that it complies with the rules at all times and keeps
within the spirit of the formula.
Those few
drivers with two cars can use them during 2010 season as follows;
they must alternate the car they use on each surface.
From the
first time you use the two different cars wherever you race---the
next time you appear on the same surface you must use the other car.
Over the
course of the year 50% of your meetings on either surface in car A
and 50% in car B.
This
obviously only comes in force the moment you use 2 cars, this also
includes any of the scheduled guest tracks.
On the English
Champion and UK Speedweekend and any other two day events the same
car must be used on both days.
The scrutineers
have a system in place where they can identify which car is which
and your logbook will be marked accordingly.
Please feel free to
contact the office or a senior official if you require any further
information.
